How to get more reviews for your workshops

Why reviews matter for workshop bookings, when and how to ask guests for them, and how to reply to good and bad reviews.

By the Zittle team ·

When someone is deciding whether to spend ₹1,800 on a Saturday workshop with a host they’ve never met, reviews from past guests do most of the convincing. Yet most happy guests never write one. Not because they didn’t enjoy it, but because nobody asked at the right moment.

Here’s how to get more of them, and what to do with them once you have them.

Ask while the experience is fresh

The best time to ask is a few hours after the session, when guests are home with their pieces and still talking about it. A week later, the moment has passed.

Zittle does this for you. About two hours after each session ends, every guest gets a WhatsApp message asking for their feedback. Each review is linked to a real booking, so the reviews on your page come from people who actually attended.

Mention it in person too

A short line at the end of the session makes a big difference:

“If you enjoyed today, you’ll get a WhatsApp message in a couple of hours asking for feedback. It really helps people like you find us.”

Guests are far more likely to respond to a message they’re expecting.

Make it easy to say something specific

Generic reviews (“Great!”) help a little. Specific ones help a lot: “I’d never done pottery and came home with two bowls. The teacher was so patient.” You can nudge guests towards that by asking a simple question at the end of the session, such as “What will you tell your friends about today?” They’ll often write exactly that.

Choose which reviews to show

On Zittle, new reviews start hidden. You choose which ones appear on your website from Reviews & Ratings in your dashboard. Your event cards show the average rating of the reviews you’ve made visible.

It’s tempting to show only five-star reviews. Don’t hide everything else. A page of only perfect scores can look curated, and an honest four-star review with a thoughtful reply often builds more trust than another “Amazing!”.

Do hide reviews that are spam, abusive, about the wrong business, or share someone’s personal details.

Reply to reviews

Replies are read by future guests as much as by the reviewer.

  • To happy guests: thank them by name and mention something specific. “Thanks Meera! Your mug came out beautifully. See you at the glazing class?”
  • To unhappy guests: stay calm, thank them for the feedback, explain briefly, and say what you’ll change. Don’t argue in public. “Sorry the room felt crowded. We’ve reduced Saturday sessions to eight seats so everyone gets more time at the wheel.”

On Zittle, select Reply on a review to add yours. See Reviews and customers.

Use reviews beyond your website

Good reviews work anywhere guests are deciding:

  • Share a screenshot of a review on your Instagram story, with your booking link.
  • Quote one in your event description, near the price.
  • Post your favourite reviews in your WhatsApp group when you announce new dates.

The short version

  • Ask within hours, not days. Zittle’s WhatsApp feedback request does this automatically.
  • Tell guests in person that the message is coming.
  • Show the honest ones, and hide only spam and abuse.
  • Reply to everything, good and bad.
  • Reuse your best reviews on Instagram, WhatsApp and your event pages.
